CDROM Offsite Installation Fermi Customization Issues Fermi has made numerous changes to the standard RedHat release. Many of these can be very Fermi specific. Since many people install Fermi Linux offsite there are numerous configuration files that may have to be changed. Below is a list of Fermi modifications. Not all of the following will have to be changed. It is up to you to decide what needs changing. The documentation contains What files are modifed. Why was modified. What modified it. Other files may have been modified but they are not offsite/onsite dependent so are not documented here. Xntp /etc/ntp.conf Uses broadcast from local routers. Fermi router addresses are put in i this file. From post.sh script and zz_xntp3_change*rpm tcpwrappers /etc/hosts.allow /etc/hosts.deny SECURITY. Allows network access from ".fnal.gov" only addresses From zz_tcp_wrappers_change*rpm Hosts /etc/hosts Timezone /etc/localtime Set to Central Time for numerous workgroups. See workgroup page for more details. This is a symbolic link to a timezone in /usr/share/zoneinfo From workgroup setting. See workgroup page for more details. Sendmail /etc/sendmail.cf SECURITY. Sets relay to fnal.fnal.gov. This will not work from i non fnal.gov addresses. From zz_sendmail_change*.rpm Login Banner /etc/motd /etc/banners/ SECURITY. Contains the DOE dictated login banner. From zz_tcp_wrappers_change*.rpm Autorpm /etc/autorpm.d/autorpm.conf Uses ftp at a fnal.gov system. May want to leave so as to get updates. Here for docmentation purposes. Will work from offsite.
